A Maverick filled Ticket!

This past Friday, August 29th 2008, the country was introduced to the next Vice President of the United States, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. Originally I had thrown my support behind the nomination of Mitt Romney as the VP pick but just seeing her speak and listening to the reaction she has brought to the campaign has re-opened my opinion and has gotten me excited for this great ticket. This was a shock to the political world and also to everyone who was sure that McCain would choose the candidate that he needs to. Instead McCain picked the candidate that he wanted, and decided to take a risk by choosing a Washington outsider to answer the call and duty of Vice President. I don’t know if it was the music playing when they introduced her or just the fact that history was made through this historic event. Both candidates have fought the system and won, also having a great record of challenging Washington and always serving the peoples needs rather then their own self interest. But now comes the real challenge of Vice Presidential Candidate and how she will hold up for the next 59 days until the election. So far she has doubled McCain’s fundraising, and has received a higher favorability rating then that of her opponent Democrat VP Biden. She even has improved McCain’s longevity programs and trust in the McCain campaign which I thought would be almost impossible. But with the good comes the bad, and when it rains it pours. Early this morning Governor Palin announced that her 17 daughter is pregnant, and how she plans to stand by her daughter and will not allow the media to rip her apart. Some would view this as a negative but let’s face it, we are electing a President and Vice President of the United States not their family and sure enough we will not hold their parenting skills up for debate. Parenting skills are not even on my score card when picking a candidate and if it is on yours then you are lower then dirt in this country. So give the McCain/Palin ticket two thumbs up and feel that now this election is truly a toss up.
